Dr Tara French is a Research Fellow within the Experience Lab team, tackling health and social care challenges using Design Innovation approaches. Tara leads projects that centre on enhancing wellbeing and quality of life, and has recently completed projects across themes of assisted living, hospice care and women’s health.

Her PhD research employed a mixed methods approach to investigate the role of music in the promotion and maintenance of health among the general population. Tara is interested in the conditions that create and cultivate eudaimonic wellbeing and the ways in which a person can recognise assets – whether they are individual or community based, physical or digital – that contribute to achieving the ‘full life’ and positive human flourishing. Tara’s ongoing research interests include salutogenic approaches to health and wellbeing for individuals and communities, particularly the use of music as a therapeutic health asset for everyday life, and person-centred research methodologies to capture and understand everyday experience.
