Ian Grout

Lecturer

Ian is a lecturer and subject leader for the Design Innovation and Citizenship programme

His research and design activities focus on the changing nature of society, ecology and economy and how design and design education may be transformed to act and support how we may live with greater empathy, respect and humility in a world that is in considerable flux. He has been actively engaged for many years in international forums to further this ambition.

Ian travels extensively throughout the school’s international exchange network and has been both External Examiner for Les Ateliers in Paris and Goldsmiths in London Masters Programmes. He has lectured extensively and given academic papers in the UK, Europe, Japan, North America, Canada and Qatar. Until recently he was Visiting Professor at HDK Göteborg.

He is an academic by necessity and a pragmatist by nature.
