Kirsty is a design academic, teaching across the Product Design undergraduate programme and responsible for the coordination of the final year curriculum for both the B.Des and MEDes pathways. Kirsty also teaches on the Design Innovation & Collaborative Creativity specialism alongside Dr Leigh-Anne Hepburn and contributes to the wider Design Innovation programmes as a supervisor.
Kirsty worked as a design professional in industry for over a decade, gaining experience within the fields of fashion design, automotive design, consumer electronics, design research and strategic design. Prior to employment at the GSA Kirsty worked at Nokia, joining the design organisation in 2007. Over the course of five years, Kirsty progressed to the role of Senior Design Manager, establishing and leading her own design research team within Nokia Design.
Her research interests focus on contemporary collaborative design practice within Design Industry and Academia; the development of models and creative practices which enable collaborative working, learning and interaction to occur between academic and industry teams and within organisations.
